Devon Allman Project

The Devon Allman Project opened the festivities of bands at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach theater.  The place where most musicians must wear their sunglasses to start a show and shed them by mid set.

True to the Allman name the Devon Allman Project continues the rich history of blues inspired rock and roll.   With nods to the previous generation, Devon’s music satisfies old fans and has accumulated a strong base of new fans.

Although his name’s sake, Devon does not try to be the center of attention.  Instead, as all great project managers he builds on the gifted people all around him.  Every now and then he will showboat, an act that he has earned.  Tonight, he did this by leaping out onto the five-foot-high speakers front center stage and balancing himself while continuing his guitar jam.  These were the same speakers I noticed earlier as camera men and stage technicians were very careful around.

Ending the evening Devon appeared on stage with vintage guitar once belonging to his father.  In a fitting tribute the band played “Midnight Rider”.  For more great music by the Devon Allman Project, be sure not to miss them when they come back to town on June 17th, at Brooklyn Bowl.
