NLL- New York Riptide vs. Toronto Rock

Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale NY

Saturday February 27th 2022

Saturday night February 27th2022 the New York Riptide hosted the Toronto Rock at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale NY looking for their first home win of the season.

The two National Lacrosse League (NLL) teams fought a hard-hitting rough grudge match that saw the biggest lead to never go beyond three points.  With the underdogs, the Riptide, winning in the final minutes 14- 13.

When the Rock started out with two quick goals it looked like the Riptide were in for a long night, however that two-point lead would be the biggest lead for the Rock for the rest of the night.  By the end of the first half, it was now New York up 8 to 7.

A close game all night it was not until the final 5 minutes that NY would be up 13-10 and seeing victory ahead.  Reality kicked in when Toronto competitiveness fought a firm punching come back to tie the game with less than two minutes left.

New York Riptide star Jeff Teat sealed the win with a final goal with less than 90 seconds on the clock.  For those final seconds it came down to NY goalie Steve Orleman doing what he was able to do all night (30 saves) protect the goal and keep the Rock for sneaking a final one in.

Box Lacrosse is a sport that is as hard hitting as Ice Hockey and fast moving as Basketball.  Riptide gives Long Island fans something just as exciting to spectate now at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
